thinking about retiring louise michel as an avatar but i have absolutely nothing to replace her with
Every escalation derived from “Abolish ICE” just makes it sound better and better
Not to be a tankie but I think I am as excited and fascinated by industry as a lot of other tumblr users seem to be by agriculture. Like, the other day I delivered 15 pizzas to the factory that makes all of the high end bumpers (used on large trucks, mostly) for all the American auto manufacturers for the entire Western Hemisphere’s market. Like, this medium sized factory tucked away in a remote midwestern town is supplying vital parts to automobiles all over this side of the globe, carried away by the rail line that runs through here and off to Chicago or New Orleans. We can perform miracles, create so much with so little. It is a shame that this production, this capacity to create so much, is currently all for the benefit of the capitalist elite, and not for everyone.
Like, this is why I love seeing factories and plants. These centers where we build the whole world, all our food and medicine and electricity. The ability for hundreds of millions to live safely, comfortably, and happily instead of in starvation, disease, and precarity. For my loved ones not to die simply because their bodies are not fast enough to hunt a deer or robust enough to survive a harsh winter. What if the people this whole edifice ran for, this whole system of production and distribution, were us ourselves, the people who make it work, and not the elite few who own it all right now?
Meanwhile anticivs/primmies talk about humanity as a herd to be culled. It’s a fascist logic “there are too many of us and not enough resources, let’s change the category of us (in this case excluding the sick and the disabled) so that there will be enough for the rest, because we don’t want redistribution of resources because that would mean the masses get a hold of things they don’t deserve, rather than our own heroic sect being justly rewarded for our superiority.”
You described a horror and followed w/ a completely indefensible claim about someone else’s politics. You have acted on such casual disdain for fellow people, and acted ugly and selfishly. I’m sure your fucking train fed factory for car bumpers will be so very necessary and inspiring after it’s destroyed our biosphere and we’re drowning under all our islands too small for you to give a shit about. Whatever it takes for you to literally enjoy a spectacle, right? If you knew fuck all about what you’re talking about you’d know you are offering up exactly, precisely what is being criticized. But it’s more convenient if it’s demanding culling instead of demanding not be too culled. Fuck your fucking car parts factory. Unbelievable.

I know this is an old post but people who think this haven’t actually had to deal with factory work before. It’s hot even with air conditioning, you have to stand for several hours at a time doing the same task over and over, you can hardly talk over the machines, you’re monitored, your time and movements are managed in such a way as to squeeze more products out of you, and the fruits of your labor are used to keep the bosses rich. By the end of your shift, you’re tired, gross, and sad. Starvation, disease, and precarity exist despite the factory. Huge amounts of pollution exist because of it. Not to mention the factory’s role as a form of social control for the proletariat when capitalism was getting started.
There’s just so much wrong here.
I have worked in a factory, dipshit. I got paid better than any other job I ever had.
I’m sorry for the characterization. That still doesn’t discount the rest of my post.

these people have called almost every democrat a socialist since ‘08, and probably long before that. this scare attempt is empty regardless if alexandria ocasio-cortez is socialist or not.
I started working full time a few days ago, so you might see more infrequent posts from me.

somebody on twitter found two archives of ICE detention facilities and a list of ICE employees. they also link another thread of things you can do to fight ICE and family separation — direct action, calling congress, finding local organizations, etc.
obviously, don’t get caught doing illegal shit.

If you think we’re bad, just wait until you see the government.
